What is having a videographer like?

01 — it’s your day.. you and your partner.
Having a wedding videographer can sound intimidating. We get it. We have way more hours behind a camera than in front of it. But, during that time we’ve learned some tips and tricks to make you feel comfortable! Honestly, most of those start with having fun and forgetting about the camera. Generally we take a “fly on the wall” approach most of the day. It’s our jobs to capture the day as it happens and tell that story in a captivating way. Poses work ok for photo, but video is different. It’s all about the movement and emotion. Those moments walking to meet your husband or wife… Walking down the aisle… Dancing and laughing and loving… Those moments make video so powerful and that’s exactly what we use to tell the story.
If you want your wedding film to be the most extravagant, dramatic, hype train of an art project.. Well we can do that too as long as you’re down to plan with us and make that a reality! But, honestly short of a few specific shots at sunset and getting ready we let you be you. So, 20 years from now when you’re watching your film with your partner you may look a little older, but you’ll recognize… YOU.
02 —we’re a small team. (always will be)
There is a reason we don’t take every opportunity presented to us to film. It starts by making sure those couples that we film for will be a good fit for our style. We’re focused on delivering the most amazing and comfortable wedding experience possible. We’re here to have fun with you, laugh with you, cry with you. We going to be close by pretty much all day, so it’s beyond important for us to make such a special day AMAZING! We’re here to capture REAL, AUTHENTIC, weddings. Not every wedding.
Oh! By the way… every single Yugen Productions Team member is local to East Tennessee. We know the level of quality you expect.. because we expect it from each other!
TL;DR We’re a small team so you’ll get the service and professionalism you deserve. We’re a small team and we don’t sub your wedding out to random camera operators or overseas editors.
03 — We’re an inclusive team.
This may come as a surprise, but as of writing this every LGBTQ+ wedding inquiry to date has started with
“Do you film same sex couples…?”
Yes.. Overwhelmingly, Absof*ckinglutly, 100% YES.
This is extremely important to me and our team. Being asked this once was too many times, but it hit me just how real it is that couples may face this. We want to make certain our futures couples know they’re accepted and we’re ready to celebrate their love with them. We also want to be on the forefront of eliminating this question from normalcy. 04 — music
Next up! A Frequently Asked Question!! Music is such an important part of the video, the wedding day, the reception, the car ride too and from the wedding, the rehearsal dinner… you get the point. So, can you expect to have any interjection as to what music gets put on your wedding film? We say yes, but please know we follow all copyright laws and we cannot make miracles happen. If you want 24k Magic by Bruno Mars…. well, it might surprise you, but we can license it. It costs $79 to license. If you want a Taylor Swift song…. well those requests usually end up in a Blank Space…. :( But!! We’re not afraid of a challenge, so we’ll try! But if rejected we’ll just have to Shake It Off.
Most people give us a few genre’s or give us free reign. All the music we use is licensed, so you’ll never have issues with the music and you’ll never have a legal situation arise. (Uncommon, but can happen and by editing with unlicensed music, the production company shares that liability with their client.)
TL;DR We go above and beyond to license any song you request. Sometimes we can, sometimes we can’t. Sometimes it’s affordable, sometimes it’s not. We will always try, but most of all we’ll always do it the right and LEGAL way.
05 — Delivery
The day has came and the day has gone. You just got back from your honeymoon and you start thinking when will we get to watch our wedding film!?!?!? It’s a fair question and our inbox is always open. We don’t promise an exact date until that date is getting close. We’re filming a unique wedding, with unique partners, at a unique venue, which results in…. you guessed it! A unique wedding film. We never rush these edits because it takes time to build the story and work through the process. However! We do give you a window of expectation and communicate through the process! Our average turn around time is 2-3 months. It’s very rare that it takes longer than 3 months. P.S. If you’re reading this you obviously care about us as a company and we think that’s totally cool. When you email us write Code: S03E15 in the contact form or your next email to us for 5% off your booking. But, you’ll know about the timeframe of editing and are always welcome to reach out for an update at anytime. I promise it’ll never annoy us, bother us, etc. We want you to be excited, so feel free to email us!
TL;DR Unique wedding films take time. But, we average 2-3 months on turnaround time and encourage couples to email us if you’re feeling curious. Once we’re done we’ll pick a time for delivery that works for you and you’ll get a private link before it’s shared anywhere!
